How do I decrypt a PGP encrypted e-mail message ?

When the secure server sends you an encrypted email using your public PGP key, you can unscramble its contents with your private key provided you are using an email application that is supported by the plug-ins (Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora), and PGP is installed on the computer receiving the e-mail

  • Open the email message using your e-mail client by double clicking it so that it opens it its own window as shown below.
  • Click the "Decrypt PGP Message" icon (Button in colour below).

  • You will then be asked for your passphrase, which you need to enter, then press OK

  • The message will be decrypted into plain text so that it can be read.
