Optimising the Installation (Windows 95 or 98 only)
The Windows 95/98 set-up wizard tends to set-up dial up connections inefficiently. The next section "tidies up" the install, and speeds up the connection.
- Right click on the new connection and click properties. You will enter a control as shown below

- Select Server Types. Deselect items until the panel looks like that shownhere:

- Clicking on TCP/IP Settings will bring up the following settings. Ensure the settings match and the two tick boxes at the bottom are ticked.

Click OK to leave the properties
- This concludes the set-up of the dial up connection.
All that is left is to enter your USERNAME and PASSWORD, and to test it. Double click on the new connection you have made to get the connection.

- User: (type in your Dial-up Username) - Password: (type in your Dial-up Password)
- Then click connect to commence dial. Once the connection is complete, there will be a double monitor icon in the taskbar, located by the desktop clock. Double clicking on it will open a status panel.

Thats it. Once a successful link is made, Windows will remember your dial up details, so you will be able to browse web sites with your web browser or use email software. |
