How do I setup my SwiftServe dial-up account on a PC with Windows XP ? |
|
Windows XP uses a wizard to create dial up connections.
- The wizard can be found in
- Control Panel
- Network and Internet Connections

- Click on Set up or change your Internet Connection to open the Internet Properties page.

- Within the Internet Properties, select the Connection tab and then click Setup

- The wizard starts. Click Next to get underway.

- Select Connect to the Internet. Then click next.

- Select the manual connection method and click next.

- Select the dial-up modem option below. ISDN also falls into this category. Networks will use the LAN option and connect via their server. (not covered here)

- Give the connection the name Swift. Then click next and enter the dial-up phone number (shown below). Then click next.

- Enter the user details for your dial up account (shown below).

- Thats it. Check the set-up summary and click Finish.

Verifying the setup and alternate numbers
If you wish to check the settings and/ or to add an alternate dialing number for your connection, then return to the Internet Properties page. Then:
- Select the connection
- Click Settings
- Click Properties
The General tab allows you to check your modem/ ISDN set up and to add an alternate number.

Click on Alternates, then Click on Add and enter the second number (shown below)

That's it. OK the wizard, return to the desktop and the connection is ready to go.
Warning!!! Prior to using the email applications, Swift Internet strongly recommends the installation of a suitable anti-virus program and the use of the Windows XP firewall to avoid damage by malicious programs. | | |
