Using the drag and drop tools provided by windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP. it is possible to upload and download files to and from your web site using Internet Explorer. This FAQ uses IE version 6, but versions 5.0 and later should match.

Uploading

  1. To begin the process of uploading your page, open Internet Explorer and type the ftp address indicated below:

FTP Address Notes

  1. Leaving the Internet Explorer window open, now open the folder on your local computer where the files you wish to upload are published. In this instance I have used the Windows Explorer.

  1. Now put the windows next to each other, as shown below:

  1. To upload a file simply drag it from the local machine window, onto the website window, then let go. Downloading is the reverse process.

  1. When you are finished, simply close the windows to sever the session. If you intend to go on browsing, do not go to another site - close the window, then open Internet Explorer again.

Important Note Your default page (Home Page) must be named index.html otherwise it will not automatically load upon entering the site. Please also note that the Server is case sensitive to file names, therefore we recommend that you always use lower case.
