How to Filter tagged SPAM messages - Outlook 2000 & XP

All Swift servers tag email which it considers to be spam with *****SPAM***** in the subject line. This makes it easier to dispose of them in your email software.

  • In the Outlook Tools menu, pull down to select the Rules Wizard

  • In the Rules Wizard dialog, click on the New button
  • Select Start creating a rule from a template and then select Move messages based on content

  • Click on the underlined value that reads "contains specific words".
  • Then type {Spam?} ,  and click the Add button
  • Then type in {Virus?}  (once again, no spaces) and then click Add button
  • Then type *****SPAM***** and click the Add button.
  • and then click the OK button.

  • Click on the word specified in "move to specified folder" to bring up the Rules Wizard folder selection dialog

  • Click New to create a new folder, naming it Spam or whatever you prefer. Click OK at this and OK at the next dialog to return to the Rules Wizard dialog with your completed rule.

  • Click Finish and OK at the next dialog.
  • Now, incoming spam will automatically go into the Spam folder. You may want to check through it periodically just in case you have any false positives.
