How to filter tagged SPAM messages - Outlook Express |
All Swift servers tag email which it considers to be spam with *****SPAM***** in the subject line. This makes it easier to dispose of them in your email software.
This section describes how to set up a filter in Outlook Express to take advantage of SPAM filtering.
- In the Folders menu, right click on Local Folders and click on the New Folder... option.

- Type "Spam" and click the OK button.

- In the Outlook Express top menu, pull down Tools, go down to Message Rules, and then select the Mail... option.
- Make certain that the Mail Rules tab is selected, then click on the New... button to create a new mail rule.

- In the New Mail Rule window, select Where the Subject line contains specific words as the Condition for your rule and Move it to the specified folder as the Action for your rule.

- Click on the underlined value that reads "contains specific words".
- Then type {Spam?} , and click the Add button
- Then type in {Virus?} (once again, no spaces) and then click Add button
- Then type *****SPAM***** and click the Add button.
- and then click the OK button.

- Click on the underlined value that reads specified. Select the Spam folder that you just created and click the OK button.

- Type in a name for the new rule such as "Spam filter", and click on the OK button and then another OK button. To ensure all mail is filtered, ensure this rule is at the bottom of the list.
- Now, incoming spam will automatically go into the Spam folder. You may want to check through it periodically just in case you have any false positives. Then you can delete the contents of the folder to flush out the junk.
