Connecting to DSL 500 router on Mac (OS 8.5 onwards)
Connection to the DSL 500 router involves a small amount of configuration work, depending on the type you subscribe to. It is important that the Mac OS supports full TCP/IP facilities. Hence OS 8.5 onwards are recommended, with an up to date web browser.
Option One - Router running DHCP function (NAT config)
- Select the AppleMenu
- Select Control Panels
- Select TCP/IP
- The TCP/IP properties will be as shown below. The router will now assign an IP address to this machine.

- Then Save the changes (You may well be asked to restart)
Option Two - Router not running DHCP function (NoNAT config)
- Select the Apple Menu
- Select Control Panels
- Select TCP/IP
- The TCP/IP properties will be as shown below. The range of IP addresses will be issued by Swift Internet. Addresses outside this range will not work.

- Then Save the changes (You may well be asked to restart)
When you have completed the configuration (and rebooted), open the web browser.Enter the router IP address of your router:
http://router IP address
- NAT and DHCP configurations will typically use 192.168.0.1
- No NAT/ static internal addresses will have an IP address supplied by Swift (as entered into the TCP/IP panel)
You should be able to see the logon panel for the router. If so the network connection has been successfully made. The router should be able to connect to the internet straight away. |
