Installing the DSL-200 USB modem for Mac OS systems:
The DSL-200 USB ADSL modem is compatible with up to MAC OS 9.2. This help guide covers that installation and setup for single machine connections.
NOTE MAC OS X drivers are being developed and should be released summer 2002
Installation
1.Before you begin the installation, you MUST unplug the USB connection to the DSL-200.
2.Simply unzip/unstuff the file V1_1_0012E.sit.zip to the desired folder. In this guide, the folder V1_1_0012E has been created.

3.You will see "DSL modem install_EN disk" folder in there. "DSL modem install_EN disk" folder contains English strings for the installer and control panel.

4.Open the "DSL modem install_EN disk" folder and double-click on the "installer" icon. After the splash screen, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.





5.The installer copies the relevant files into the Systems Extensions folder. Once completed, Restart MAC OS.
6.After the MAC OS is fully loaded, connect up the ADSL line and USB cable to DSL-200 and wait for 15-30 seconds.
7.Check the DSL-200 modem ADSL Link LED. When it is steady green, you can start to perform the configuration.
Configuration: To set the WAN Driver (RFC-2364 MODE supported by Swift Internet)
1 Configure Control Panel - ADSL Setup Applet.

Press "Ctrl + 1" to get the additional setup options Select the Configuration Table tab to get the screen below. Set the values as displayed below and then Apply. Wait 15-30 seconds and Check the DSL-200 modem ADSL Link LED to be steady green.

2.Configure TCP/IP to connect via the PPP transport by using the TCP/IP Control Panel applet. The PPP transport shows up under the TCP/IP Control Panel as: Connect via: "PPP" Select "PPP" from the drop down list and configure it according to your PPP server requirements (as below).

3.Close the TCP/IP Control Panel applet, and save your settings. To check if your settings have been properly saved, you could open the TCP/IP Control Panel applet again.
4.Configure the USB modem using the Modem Control Panel Applet. The USB modem shows up under the Modem Control Panel's connection drop down menu: Connect via: "ADSL USB Modem" Then, you must select the modem setup script by selecting the script from the Modem Setup drop down menu: Modem: "ADSL USB Modem" Then, check the "Ignore dial tone" option.

5.Close the Modem Control Panel applet, and save your settings. To check if your settings have been properly saved, you could open the Modem Control Panel applet again.
6.Configure Apple Remote Access to connect to your PPP server by opening the Remote Access Control Panel. Select the options required to connect to your PPP server. The phone number you type in does not matter, (i.e. use "1").

7.Click the "Option" button and choose "Protocol" page, UNcheck the item "use TCP Header Compression", then click the "ok" button.

8.Close the Remote Access Control Panel applet, and save your settings. To check if your settings have been properly saved, you could open the Remote Access Control Panel applet again.
9.The driver will load and connect as soon as you press the "Connect" button. Once connected, you can start any TCP/IP application to verify the Internet connectivity.
NOTE.To use the Internet Browser : Before you use the Browser Internet Explorer(IE), make sure you DISABLE the Web Proxy Server settings in the Internet Explorer's "Edit/Options". |
