adding_a_domain_name_to_your_vps_server

Adding a Domain Name for your VPS Server.

There are three scenarios, in order of preference:-

1) Your customer wants to transfer the domain and wants you to provide DNS. (recommended)
With this scenario, in your Plesk control panel DNS is On for the domain, and make sure all DNS records are correct. See: http://swiftinter.net/kb/doku.php?id=how_to_configure_dnsvps_product_on_your_plesk_v9.x_server for help with your server. You then need to order product “DN+DNSVPS” which Provides Domain Name registration/transfer and a DNS Service.
Once you receive the email confirmation that the order is completed, ask your customer to re-delegate the DNS servers for the domain to:
ns0.swiftinter.net
ns1.swiftinter.net
The above will get the name working with your servers pretty much straight away, while the domain name transfer process is processing which can take a few days, or up to a week in some cases.
We will email instructions for transferring the domain name, which vary dependant upon the type of domain is being transferred.
This scenario is recommended because it provides you with most control.

2) Your customer wants to keep control of domain registration but changes the DNS servers.
With this scenario, in your Plesk control panel DNS is On for the domain, and make sure all DNS records are correct. See: http://swiftinter.net/kb/doku.php?id=how_to_configure_dnsvps_product_on_your_plesk_v9.x_server for help with your server. You then need to order product “DNSVPS” from us which Provides a DNS Service for a domain which is registered elsewhere which you do not want to transfer in to us. How to order is explained later in this email.
Once you receive the email confirmation that the order is completed, ask your customer to re-delegate the DNS servers for the domain to:
ns0.swiftinter.net
ns1.swiftinter.net

3) Your customer keeps control of domain registration & DNS, and just points the A record to the IP address of your server. (not recommended)
For this scenario, in your control panel you switch off DNS for the domain, and you provide your customer with the IP address of your server. No further action is required by Swift Internet. This is not recommended because you will not be able to control DNS records from your control panel.
So for either Scenario 1 or 2, follow this procedure:
1. log into your client control panel at:
URL: https://account.swiftinter.net
User: (your account email address)
Pass: (Use the forgotten password link if you don't know)
The first time you log in, you may have to update your details.
2. Click My Orders” > “New Order”.
3. Click “Add Domains To My Server”.
4. Click the Product you would like to order from the list (“DNSVPS” for scenario 2, or “DN+DNSVPS” for scenario 3) and that product expands.
5. Click the arrow to order the product and follow the order process through, adding to your basket, then Checkout.

Note, you can add more that one domain to your cart before checking out.
This will register the domain name if required and add it to our secondary DNS. The domain registration process will happen automatically, and you'll receive the confirmation automatically via email. In the case of a domain transfer, you will receive instructions via email for transferring the domain name, which vary dependant upon the type of domain is being transferred
You also need to add the domain to your server. You do this from the Plesk control panel logged in as admin. Once logged in go to domains > Add domain
See this help page: http://swiftinter.net/kb/doku.php?id=how_to_configure_dnsvps_product_on_your_plesk_v9.x_server
