Swift Internets ethos is to build our systems to the highest standard, not down to the cheapest price. Our server hardware is top quality IBM or Sun Microsystems (Oracle) servers with 8, 12 or 16 Core Xenon or Opteron Processors, and “High Availability” RAID 50 SAN storage arrays with 16 SAS drives per array. The systems are built to provide high performance and high availability with redundancy and failover. (See “High Availability” section for further details.) All of this comes together to provide a high performance web site and email service with unparalleled reliability.
Gigabit Ethernet is utilised for Servers, Switches and Firewall’s in the data centre, with multiple redundant connections to a UK-wide 10 Gbit MPLS “Self -Healing” network, so data is automatically redirected in the event of a network segment failure, providing reliability.
The infrastructure comprises of a heavily redundant 10 Gigabit network into key London data exchanges including LONAP, LINX, LIPEX, with further connectivity into Amsterdam (AMSIX & NL-ix), Paris (SFINX) and Frankfurt (DE-CIX). A vast network of over 900 peering sessions are established throughout Europe, enabling direct connection to a quarter of the Internet without passing across a transit connection.
